Sunshine Skyway Rest Area Closes Monday Night, With US 19 Night Work Running All Week in Pinellas
FDOT lists a full closure of the southbound South Skyway Rest Area from 8 p.m. Monday to 6 a.m. Tuesday and again Tuesday night, plus US 19 night lane closures from Sunday through Thursday.

Drivers crossing the bay toward Manatee County on Monday night lose their rest stop. The Florida Department of Transportation lists a full closure of the southbound South Skyway Rest Area at the Sunshine Skyway Fishing Pier State Park from 8 p.m. Monday, November 2, to 6 a.m. Tuesday, November 3 — and the rest area is listed as closed again on Tuesday night.
On the Pinellas mainland, the work week runs on US 19. FDOT lists night lane closures on US 19 from SR 580, Main Street, to SR 586, Curlew Road, from Sunday, November 1, through Thursday, November 5, on nights from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for the US 19 new-interchanges project.
Farther south on the same corridor, overnight lane closures on US 19 from 66th Street North to 78th Avenue North are listed as continuing through late 2026. Drivers on the Pinellas side should check FL511 for live conditions before late trips this week.
