Westshore Interchange Work Brings an I-275 Lane Closure at Exit 39 on Sunday Night (Tampa Watch News)

The Westshore side of I-275 joins the Sunday-night work list. The Florida Department of Transportation lists a southbound lane closure on I-275 at SR 60 West and SR 589 North — Exit 39, the airport and Veterans Expressway interchange — from 9 p.m. Sunday, November 1, to 6 a.m. Monday, November 2, as part of Tampa's Westshore Interchange safety and operational improvements project.

The work continues into the week at the same interchange. FDOT lists southbound lane closures on I-275 before the SR 60 interchange from Monday, November 2, through Thursday, November 5, on nights from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. — the same Sunday night that also brings the full southbound I-275 closure downtown at the I-4 interchange, so late-Sunday drivers crossing Tampa in either direction should expect work zones at both ends of the corridor.

Around the interchange, the surface-street changes run around the clock. Cypress Street carries continuous westbound diversion and traffic switches through November 13, a Frontage Road lane closure runs 24 hours a day through late 2026, and Frontage Road from Cypress Street to Lemon Street is under a continuous closure, according to FDOT's listings. Drivers heading to or from Tampa International late Sunday should budget extra time.
