Early Voting in Hillsborough County Ends Sunday After More Than 300,000 Ballots Cast (Tampa Watch News)

More than 300,000 people have already voted in Hillsborough County in the 2026 general election, according to the county Supervisor of Elections' office — and Sunday is the last chance to vote early. All 27 early voting sites in the county are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 1, the final day of an early voting period that began Oct. 19.

Voters with mail ballots can still return them in person: a Secure Ballot Intake Station sits inside every one of the 27 early voting sites during early voting hours, and mail return requires no postage. After Sunday, the next opportunity is Election Day itself — Tuesday, Nov. 3, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. — when voters must cast their ballots at their assigned polling place.

Getting there is free on Election Day: HART is offering free rides on Tuesday under its Roll to the Polls program, and the transit agency serves 21 of the county's early voting locations. Hillsborough's turnout is part of a national surge — the Associated Press reported nearly 10 million more ballots had been cast five days out from this election than at the same point in 2022.
