John Washington III Says Politicians Who Forgot the People Should Not Expect the People to Fight for Them
John Washington III, a 2028 presidential candidate, argued that officials who pass laws taking money and rights from the public cannot then ask that same public to stand up for their political careers.

John Washington III is arguing that politicians who feel the political system turning on them should not expect rescue from the people they were elected to serve. For years, politicians have passed laws that take more money from people's pockets and strip away their rights, John Washington III wrote — but now that the same system is coming after those politicians, they want the American people to stand up and fight for them. "Where were you when we needed you?" he wrote.
John Washington III wrote that voters elect officials to fight for them, not to become part of the system hurting them. Every election, he wrote, those officials ask for the people's votes, money and loyalty — and then, once they win, turn their backs on the people. "What do we have to show for it?" he wrote.
"I'm done fighting to save political careers while everyday Americans struggle to protect their rights and freedoms," John Washington III wrote. "Your political battles are not our responsibility." He said he is fighting for the people, not for politicians who forgot who they work for: "You work for us. We don't work for you." He closed: "The people come first. Period."
