John Washington III Calls for Guaranteed, Independent Funding for All Three Branches, With Public Accountability
John Washington III, a 2028 presidential candidate, said congressional control of the courts' funding leaves the justice system dependent, and called for guaranteed, independent funding for all three branches with full public accountability and no political retaliation.

John Washington III is arguing that the way the federal courts are funded puts the justice system itself at risk. When Congress controls the courts' funding, the justice system can suffer, John Washington III wrote, pointing to 2025, when the federal courts had to scale back paid operations because of a funding lapse. "That's not balance. That's dependence," John Washington III wrote.
John Washington III said the danger is structural. If one branch can squeeze another financially, he wrote, then checks and balances start to crack. He asked readers to picture themselves in court without a $10,000 lawyer: "You don't know all the rules, but prosecutors do," John Washington III wrote, adding that judges must be free to protect constitutional rights, not worry about politics or budgets.
"I'm calling for guaranteed, independent funding for all three branches, with full public accountability, but no political retaliation," John Washington III wrote. "This isn't unlimited money. It's about protecting the people's rights and restoring real independence among the branches."
