The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office has arrested and charged a man in a fatal Tampa shooting, the office said in an account carried by Tampa Bay 28. Deputies responded on Tuesday, October 27, at 11:19 p.m. to the 12000 block of Taliaferro Avenue after receiving reports of shots fired, and found Ronnie Sheppard, 29, suffering from upper body trauma. Sheppard was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Detectives identified the shooter as Nathan Campbell, 26, and learned through their investigation that an argument between the two men escalated into the shooting, the Sheriff's Office said. On Wednesday, October 28, detectives located Campbell at a home in Gibsonton and took him into custody.

"In less than 12 hours, a homicide suspect is off our streets," Sheriff Chad Chronister said in the office's statement. Campbell is charged with murder in the second degree with a firearm discharge and with being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to the Sheriff's Office. The charges are allegations, and the case now moves to the courts.
