Tampa Clocks Fall Back Early Sunday, November 1, and Sunday Brings the Weekend's Storms (Tampa Watch News)

Tampa gets an extra hour this weekend, and it arrives right after Halloween. Daylight saving time ends at 2 a.m. local time on Sunday, November 1, when clocks move back one hour to 1 a.m. and the country returns to standard time — the earliest date the fall change can fall, because November 1 is the first Sunday of the month this year.

The change survived another year in Congress. The Sunshine Protection Act, which would make daylight saving time permanent, passed the House in July but remains stalled in the Senate, so the twice-yearly switch stays in place for now, according to national reporting. After Sunday, both sunrise and sunset come about an hour earlier by the clock.

The weather gives the extra hour a wet second act. The station's live feed early Saturday showed 75.5 degrees, feeling like 79.7, with Saturday's high at 86.9 and an 18 percent precipitation chance. Sunday is the weekend's storm day on the feed: a high of 82.9, a low of 70.7 and precipitation odds at 60 percent under a storms code — the same wet Sunday hanging over the Buccaneers' 1 p.m. home game — before Monday stays unsettled at 53 percent.
