The Westbound I-4 Ramp to Northbound I-275 Closes at 10 P.M. Monday, and FDOT's Detour Runs Through Downtown Streets
Downtown Tampa's interchange loses one of its main moves overnight Monday: the westbound I-4 ramp to northbound I-275 closes from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for maintenance, and the signed detour drops drivers onto Jefferson, Harrison and Orange before they can rejoin I-275.

Plan a different route through downtown Tampa late Monday. The Florida Department of Transportation says the westbound I-4 ramp to northbound I-275 will close from 10 p.m. Monday, November 2 to 5 a.m. Tuesday, November 3, weather permitting, for maintenance work as part of the Downtown Tampa Interchange safety and operational improvements project.
FDOT's detour keeps drivers on westbound I-4 past the closed ramp: exit at Exit 45A (Downtown East/West), keep left at the fork toward Downtown East, continue south on Jefferson Street, turn left onto Harrison Street, then left onto Orange Avenue, and re-enter the interstate using the northbound I-275 entrance ramp. It is a short loop, but it runs on downtown surface streets in the late-night hours - allow the extra minutes.
The ramp is not the week's only night work on I-275. The same FDOT page lists lane closures at the southbound Skyway Toll Plaza from Monday through Thursday, 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., and southbound lane closures on I-275 before the SR 60 interchange Monday through Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. The southbound Exit 25 ramp to 38th Avenue N also remains closed for an extended period, as it has been since October 5.
